Climate Change
Food security and climate change are interconnected challenges that impact health and livelihoods. Afya for Africa is partnering with smallholder farmers to implement sustainable agricultural practices that enhance food production while protecting the environment.
We aim at;
- 🌱 Climate-Smart Agriculture Training – Educating farmers on sustainable farming methods, soil conservation, and agroecology.
- 🌾 Drought-Resistant Crops – Promoting climate-resilient crop varieties to ensure food availability.
- 💧 Water Conservation – Implementing drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and water-efficient farming techniques.
- 🌿 Community Seed Banks – Providing access to high-quality seeds, reducing dependency on expensive commercial options.
- 🤝 Farm Cooperatives – Strengthening local food systems, improving market access, and increasing economic stability.
- 👩 Women & Youth Empowerment – Involving women and young farmers in agribusiness and sustainable farming.
- 🌳 Tree-Planting Initiatives – Restoring degraded land and improving climate resilience. By taking action on climate change, we build a more resilient, sustainable future for our community and ensure that our natural resources are preserved for generations to come.
